How can I get over someone after they say I love but i can't fall in love with you because I am not free to?

We were seeing each other for 3 months and we did fall for each other but he is ';attached'; how can I let go he made me feel so happy. I had not feel that happy in 5 years. How can I let that go? I love him and the thought that its over because it is the right the thing and I agree just makes me feel selfish for not wanting it to end. How do I let go?
